I've found AWS to offer the cheapest domain services around: $12CAD as opposed to GoDaddy's $28 (including GoDaddy's optional privacy, which honestly is needed to avoid spam and having to abandon your email account to avoid it). The total cost is under $20/year, domain included. I'd know, I spent about 15 hours of research and trial and error to figure this out (doesn't sound easy, right?).
